Clos de la Roche
To Morey-Saint-Denis’ northernmost section lies the 42-acre Clos de la Roche grand cru vineyard. One of four found in Morey-Saint-Denis, and one of the largest grand cru sites on the Côte d’Or, it is thought to be the best of the quartet, with a history of especially structured wines peppered with deep red fruit flavors.
Bordering Gevrey-Chambertin, the vineyard is predominantly composed of limestone-laden soils. In tandem with the climat’s sloping features, the soil makes for ample drainage, yielding strong vines that develop intense, concentrated grapes. These advantages, along with the favorable climate and breezes, keep sweetness and acidity in the desired balance, making the wines savory, rich and altogether exciting.
