Ornellaia: A Wine to Know

Ornellaia, one of the original Super Tuscans was first sold in 1985. It is a wine made in Tuscany designed to satisfy a thirst for wines made of French grapes. Cabernet Sauvignon drives the blend of Ornellaia, which has an impressive lineup of wine impresarios in its history: Robert Mondavi, Michel Rolland and Frescobaldi, the current owner, have all played parts in the wine's history. Ornellaia also makes Massetto, one of the most prized single-vineyard Merlots in the world--bottles fetch handsome prices.
