The holidays may be over, but it is always a fine time for bubbles. Wine-Searcher, who has aggregated scores from many wine critics to come up with a list of the world's top Champagnes. All the bottles on the list come from the big Champagne houses, which can be accounted for due to many things. They have the budget to get grapes from the widest range of places and can keep larger stocks to pull from, year to year. They can also afford the latest in technology. Furthermore, they have history--even the least famous of the big houses have had at least a couple of centuries to perfect their craft.

At the top of the list are two from Krug: their Close d'Ambonnay Blanc de Noirs and the Collection Brut. Next up came offerings from Salon and Roederer, followed by two from Dom Perignon. One interesting thing to note is that the most all of the top ten different in scores was one point--the study had to go to 4 decimal points to separate them into a top ten ranking.
