The 2001 Barolo Gavarini Vigna Chiniera opens with a beguiling, totally exotic bouquet. Sweet roses, Mirabelle plums, spices, tar and mint are some of the many nuances that emerge from the glass. The 2001 has gained quite a bit of body and volume over the last few years. This is a pretty big style for the Chiniera, even if the wine isn t quite as polished as the very best vintages Anticipated maturity, 2012-2021.
