(from vines planted in 1931 in the climat Champs Traversin, which is occasionally referred to as Le Petit Citeaux). A subtly toasty nose highlights the spicy and cool mix of red, black and violet aromas that marry with the classy, velvety and mouth coating big-boned flavors supported by impressive depth of material and outstanding length. This is a relatively refined Ech, even if the tannins are robust and while it’s carrying a bit more wood than I personally prefer, the material is here to support it. This has already begun to shut down and since it’s built to age, this will better suit the patient as it’s demonstrating very little of its eventual potential. 92/2015+
