This is also distinctly cool and reserved with an ultra-pure nose of extract of stone and airy red pinot fruit aromas. There is an almost painful intensity to the overtly muscular and big-bodied flavors that possess superb mid-palate concentration. Indeed the dry extract positively coats the palate and buffers the extremely firm tannins such that this seems much more forward than it really is. The finish just goes on and on and I found this classically styled Chambertin to be breathtakingly good – just be aware that it’s pointless to buy this unless you intend to age it as it won’t be a good candidate for early consumption.
