Originally operating in the shadow of his famous uncle, Henri Jayer, Emmanuel Rouget eventually carved out his own reputation for producing many of the world’s most acclaimed wines. Making elite Pinot Noir from some of northern Burgundy’s best vineyards, the domaine counts sites in Vosne-Romanée and Flagey-Echézeaux among its esteemed holdings. Rouget was working as an engineer when Henri suggested he come to work in the vineyards. He ccepted the offer and never looked back; instead, he absorbed every morsel of information his renowned winemaking uncle could impart, and started his own wine business in Flagey. Under Jayer’s tutelage, he produced powerful yet elegant wines for which he received immediate recognition. Jayer passed on the management of his own domaine to Emmanuel in 1996, and upon his death in 2006, Emmanuel inherited full ownership. Today, Rouget’s wines remain some of the most sought-after among collectors and consumers alike. Included in the domaine’s most notable offerings is Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru CrosParantoux. One of only two producers associated with this appellation, the wine is distinctive, classic and deservedly celebrated.
