Wine Spectator's Number One

Wine Spectator has been revealing their list of the top ten wines of 2019. The list has included everything from Chateau Beaucastel to Pendfolds to the Chilean Almaviva, a collaboration of Chateau Mouton Rothschild and Concha y Toro. The number one honors went to a Bordeaux Second Growth, however: Chateau Leoville Barton 2016. The winery has been a longtime family venture--and is one of only three Bordeaux chateaux to remain continuously in one family. It has remained loyal to being the wine its founders set out to make, while at the same time keeping pace with the demands of the modern age. In 2016, the wine was make from 86% Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot rounding out the blend. Spectator gave it a score of 97% citing its lush black and blue fruit with bramble and ganache notes, all giving it the backbone to age handsomely for decades. If you buy fine wine, you no doubt will want to give it a try yourself!
