Unveiled: Louis Jadot Wine Photographer Award 2026 winners
Spanish photographer Juan Miguel Ortuño Martinez has been named the overall winner of the annual Louis Jadot Wine Photographer of the Year 2026 for his atmospheric image In the Depths of the Deposit. The image was captured at the bottom of an underground wine tank during cleaning, showing worker, Pedro, looking up as he watches a bucket and sponge descending by rope for him to use to remove wine residue after the interior is treated with pressurized water. The haunting scene is illuminated only by the blue glow of his headtorch, highlighting the surrounding red wine-stained walls.
The winners of the wine photography awards were announced at the Mall Galleries in London on June 2nd by celebrity chef, Gennaro Contaldo, at a ceremony attended by leading figures from the worlds of food, wine, and the arts. Entries were judged in three categories: People, Produce, and Places.
Martinez won first place in the People category and the overall winner title. British photographer Luke Carver won first prize in the Produce category with In the Eye of the Kvevri, an image taken during harvest season in Georgia. Chris Elfes claimed the Places top award for a breathtaking drone shot in Australia’s Hunter Valley, a striking example of vineyard photography.
A panel of photographers, magazine editors, creative directors, restaurateurs, and chefs joined forces to judge the competition of wine industry photography.
In London this month? All 203 finalist images are being exhibited at the Mall Galleries from June 3rd to 7th. A further selection, chosen by luxury department store Fortnum & Mason, is being displayed at the retailer’s iconic Piccadilly store from June 9th.
