A legendary institution on the golden-white sands of the celebrated Pampelonne Beach, Le Club 55 has been synonymous with timeless, seaside glamor for decades. Celebrated for attracting stars of the movie and music worlds, supermodels, yachtsmen, and discerning travellers, this iconic beach club pairs a bamboo beach bar feel and understated elegance with classic Mediterranean hospitality. Organic vegetables hail from the estate's own farm, all served alongside freshly grilled seafood. During the day, guests lounge on sunbeds or enjoy refined local cuisine; at dusk, the atmosphere transforms into a Mediterranean lounge experience with signature cocktails and chilled music as the sea turns sunset gold. One of the finest Mykonos beach bars, the wine list showcases around 200 labels, including a healthy number of wines by the glass, with a good selection of magnums and jeroboams. More recent evolution of Champagne glassware comes in the form of varietal or style-specific vessels. With many companies looking to create the perfect wine glass, there are a wide variety of options to choose from, often coming recommended by Champagne producers themselves such as Ruinart, Krug, and Moët & Chandon.
Austrian Glass maker Riedel has developed both the Veritas Champagne glass and has even worked with Krug to create the Joseph glass to “enhance every aspect of the sensorial Krug experience”. This comes as no surprise, however, as glassmaker Maximilian Riedel is a vocal denouncer of the flute: “It is my goal that the flute will be obsolete by the day that I pass away”.
Whether it’s a sunset Champagne by the beach on the French Riviera, an Adriatic seafood pairing, a tropical beach club cocktail hour, or a Cycladic wine list under azure skies, a 5-star beach bar is worth factoring into your next luxury travel getaway!
We’re going local next time as we look at top American beach bars and wine lists, so keep your eyes open!
