The 2020 Bordeaux vintage was excellent with a lot of top-scoring wines. A wet spring gave way to a hot, dry summer. April's rain and August’s light rainfall sustained the vines, however. Yields were slightly down compared to 2015 but were more or less the same as 2018.

With meticulous care and attention, as well as advances in modern vinicultural approaches, producers were able to create wines of very good overall quality. By virtue of lower alcohol levels and blending, these wines are more approachable younger, but will age extremely well. Yields were fairly low at 20% below the ten-year average.
