Dorli Muhr’s wines are liquid love letters to Austria, viticulture and inspirational women. Dorli grew up in the Austrian winegrowing region Carnuntum, close to the Slovak border. While she is the founder of a successful PR agency, it was Carnuntum’s idyllic setting, combined with the memory of her strong-willed, grape growing grandmother, that prompted her to create a wine estate in 2002, together with Dirk Niepoort.

The vineyards are in the Spitzerberg nature reserve in the easternmost part of the country. The vines in the Ried Roterd vineyard are the same ones that belonged to Dorli’s grandmother Katharina Muhr. Dorli has revitalized the parcels, expanded the operation and she now owns the estate outright. It comprises seven hectares under vine, with five leased hectares of the best, south-facing sites.

Dorli began a campaign in 2004 to create the appellation of origin “Spitzerberg”. Thanks to this initiative, the vineyards are now recognized as “Premier Cru” by the Austrian winegrowers’ association.

Dorli Muhr’s wines are made predominantly from the central European varietal Blaufränkisch and are elegant, precise and a lighter style of Austrian red. In 2018 the wines were certified organic. If you want to discover something new and different on your wine journey then these are the bottles for you.
