Copyrighting the 1855 Classification

Due to unscrupulous vendors capitalizing on the name recognition of the 1855 Classification of Bordeaux, the châteaux of the region have now copyrighted the term "1855". If you buy fine wine you can rest assured that any wine you buy with "1855" on the label comes from one of the 61 red wines or 26 sweet wines that were part of the original classification. The move is one the region has desired for some time, particularly when an online wine merchant utilized the term as their firm name.
