Silver Lining to Bordeaux 2014 Harvest

Silver Lining to Bordeaux 2014 Harvest

by Westgarth Wines January 10, 2015

2013 was a devastating year for Bordeaux. Hailstorms destroyed much of the harvest, so those searching to buy fine wine from the region would actually have to search. Happily, the 2014 harvest fared better. The region saw warmer temperatures, ripening the grapes perfectly. Yields were still on the lower side, at 5.2-5.4 million hectoliters, but that is still a step up from the previous year's 3.8 million. And the wine will be fine, indeed. Bernard Farges, president of a committee for the area's wine growers and traders has declared it to be a "happy harvest"!
